When using Business Intelligence tools, analysts often think in terms of which provides the best visual representation of the insights, or which can help you better understand data. But often, it’s the little things that can make the difference and truly help you have a great day at work.

For example, every organization chooses its own calendar to work with. Some prefer to set the calendar in a certain way, some create their own system. It might not seem like much at first, but having a tool that can help you create a custom calendar can really set your time free.

The Cognetik Cloud Connector gives you the power to use a Custom calendar or Retail calendar inside Tableau.

This comes in handy when pulling data from your favorite data connector at a weekly or monthly granularity because data would already be correctly aggregated at these levels. The Cognetik Cloud Connector does all the heavy lifting.

Here are the available Calendar options:

Custom Calendar

1. Standard – Uses Gregorian calendar (The first day of the week is Sunday, and months are determined by the calendar dates).

2. Retail – Uses the National Retail Federation calendar (The first day of the week is Sunday, but the months are defined by the 4-5-4 NRF calendar https://nrf.com/resources/4-5-4-calendar ).

3. Custom – Select the day the week starts (Very useful if the first day of the week is not Sunday. This option allows the user to define custom start days for weeks).

This is just one feature of the Cognetik Cloud Connector. You can free up even more time by customizing the date for refreshable dashboards, or by Setting Up a Scheduled Refresh in the Tableau Server. You can also use Data Streams to import data from Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics or other cloud sources to your data warehouse of choice.
