The Tableau Conference 2017 is just around the corner, and I’m sure everyone attending already has an agenda on which speakers to follow and what talks to go to. TC17 speakers will share a lot of relevant info about the industry, the direction data analytics is heading towards and what features and updates are coming to Tableau.
If you’re new to Tableau, the TC17 is a great place to start. There will be a lot of intro sections, tutorials that can help you get through the ‘pain’ a lot easier and get you to build the dashboard of your dreams. (most likely for someone else, but hey, money never sleeps).

For example, in the “New to TC?  Everything you need to know for the IT professional” talk, you will have a walk-through of the numerous sessions you can choose from. Tableau Conference veterans will share their tips and tricks on how to get the most from the conference – specifically as an IT professional. They will give you a quick run-down of all the technical sessions presented by Tableau employees. This is a great way to start TC17 off and meet new people you’ll see throughout the week. Attendees will get a special roadmap for navigating all the IT-focused sessions.
If you’re into technicalities and you understand numbers and numbers understand you (they’re very sensitive to strangers), Dr. Talithia Williams will take sophisticated numerical concepts, including her specialty field big data, and makes them understandable and relatable to everyone. That’s happening today at 2:30 PM, so hurry up!
Tableau CEO Adam Selipsky and other data leaders will share their vision for the future of visual analytics in one of the most anticipated talks of the conference, on Tuesday, 8:30 am. A great talk to attend since you will discover what’s the general view about the direction of the industry of some of the most important data influencers out there.
If you want to see what’s going to happen to Tableau software in the future, you really should add the “Tableau Devs on Stage” talk to your list. This will take place on 10.10.2017, at 5:15 PM. Tune in to developer team live-demos the latest-and-greatest, as well as up-and-coming features.
We analysts like to say we’re data detectives: we uncover the truth behind a case and arrest the ‘criminal’. Watch Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt, the co-authors of Freakonomics, as they will explain how they discovered the hidden side of data.

Another cool talk is presented by Michelle Ufford, Netflix – Manager, Core Innovation, and customer Speaker. In this talk, Michelle Ufford will share how the Data Engineering & Analytics team at Netflix communicates and fixes an issue when inevitably something goes wrong. During the talk,  she will share their analytics environment, how data is used, and how data roles are organized internally and she’ll tackle topics such as data quality & lineage.

Peter Gilks and Tatiana Gabor from Spotify will talk about Exploratory visual analysis: How to use Tableau to get the most from this crucial stage of analysis? Say you are about to embark on a data analysis project, and you’ve got your data, what are you going to do first? In this session, you’ll dive into one of the most crucial but often overlooked stage of any analytics project: Exploratory Data Analysis. Experts from Spotify will share why this step is important, and you’ll be able to see a demo of techniques you can use to get to know your data better.

Last but not least, Adam Savage. He’s one star you’re not supposed to lose sight of. The internationally renowned television producer, host, and public speaker is expected to give an explosive keynote. And that’s all we know about his talk at TC17. But we’ll soon learn more as the date gets closer.
